I'm interested in several different forms of art, but right now my focus is weaving. For the weavings I use an 8 Harness Counter Balance floor loom, as well as and Inkle loom and a Rigid heddle loom that I built myself. Most of the weavings are made on the big floor loom. Here is an overview of the weaving process. First I choose the colors, materials, pattern. Then I have to set up the warp(the yarn that goes through the loom). First I use the warping board (a weaving tool) to get all the pieces of yarn the same length. Then I put warp through the reed which evenly spaces out all the yarn. After that it goes through the heddles, this is where the pattern is put in. Next it gets tied on the back and wound on the back beam. Then it is tied to the front beam. Then hook up the foot peddles to the harnesses which contain the heddles. Then I can weave. Pushing the foot peddles opens the shed (the opening between the layers of yarn), then I pass the weft (the yarn that runs opposite the warp) through. And then repeat many times.
